This “small octopus” has been on my mind since I saw it 5 years ago! and finally painted it last month. Marine life is depicted in ancient frescoes of many cultures; here, Octopus cyanea, the ‘Hawaiian day octopus,’ in ink on dry plaster and burlap.
The unique cracking (crumbling-breaking-flaking…) texture of plaster is on display in this wrap-mounted piece.
It now hangs in San Rafael through April 19th, with my other mounted fresco panels.
