‘Cretaceous California’ is a mixed media piece I created for the Bureau of Land Management in 2010. I worked with a scientist at the Hollister Field Office and obtained fossils to use in several illustrations of Margeriella Cretacea, or the Moreno Conifer, an extinct species from the Cretaceous found in the Moreno Shale. I accompanied a BLM crew and paleontologists on an excavation of fossil remains that were later identified as a mososaur.

This is a view of the terrestrial-marine interface of that region, covered in shallow seas during the Cretaceous paeriod. It features flora and fauna found in the fossil record.
