Ink on plaster, Moon (2nd of 3)

-in progress

The other day I led a class to investigate the biodiversity of tide pools, here on the Sonoma Coast, CA. We had a small window of opportunity, the tide coming in as we picked our way carefully over, through, and around rocks encrusted with life (upon which more life grew, etc, etc, and so on). Just enough time to explore and take notes before the ocean swallowed it all back up.

Tides still on my mind today, as I work on a series of moon paintings. Here is No.2 of 3, in progress.

My process is to make puddles and then refine with a razor blade. Again. And again… Then it’s the moon.
