To celebrate and protect biodiversity the National Park Service, National Geographic, Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and Presidio Trust are hosting\u00a0a 24-hour BioBlitz species count and two-day Biodiversity Festival:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/explorers\/projects\/bioblitz\/golden-gate-california-2014\/\">http:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/explorers\/projects\/bioblitz\/golden-gate-california-2014\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The public will participate in forays to count and identify species at locations in San Francisco and Marin (pre-registration required). The free festival at Crissy Field has activities for everyone. I&#8217;m happy to be involved in the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators presentation. Showing artwork by California Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, and students of the CSUMB Science Illustration Graduate Program, for its 25th annual exhibit highlighting the amazing detail and artistry of local science illustrators. See why\u00a0art is so important to science and our understanding of the natural world. Enjoy light refreshments while viewing the exhibit. Part of Santa Cruz\u2019s monthly First Friday Art Tour.<\/p>\n<h4>School Tours:\u00a0<strong>Tuesdays-Fridays, May &amp; June\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Bring your class to the Museum to explore the exhibit and learn how illustration is used to convey information and connect people with the natural sciences. Students will get to experiment with different types of media, and complete an exhibit scavenger hunt.
